Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to inspect electrical construction/installation for compliance with applicable standards and codes. Employees in this classification perform expert technical inspection and related reporting work. Inspects electrical construction in residential, commercial and other installations for compliance with electrical codes and trade standards. Employees approve electrical work, prepare project status reports, and research and interpret electrial codes for enforcement, contractors, and the general public. Performs related work as required. Drives to and from various locations throughout Jefferson Parish to perform job task. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
Employees will be required to obtain certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Electrical Inspector or Commercial Electrical Inspector prior to the completion of their probationary period.
