Description of DNV Group Legal:
Group Legal is responsible for providing legal advice to all business areas on a global basis and consists of 37 lawyers and support staff in a distributed team located in Oslo, Houston, Mexico City, Hamburg, London, Glasgow, Shanghai, Singapore, and Dubai. The Group Legal function is led by the Group Legal Director at the DNV Group headquarters in Norway and reports to the Group CFO.
The Group Legal Region Americas Team:
We are a business-oriented group of legal professionals with a primary focus of adding value and acting as business enablers to all DNV business areas (Maritime, Energy Systems, Business Assurance, Supply Chain & Product Assurance, and Digital Solutions) and support functions for operations in the Americas. As a member of the Group Legal Americas team, your main focus area will be the U.S. and the Americas, but with opportunities to work within the entire DNV organization globally, providing legal support on a wide-ranging basis.

Requirements:
- JD from ABA-Approved U.S. law school, or equivalent degree from equivalent non-U.S. Law School
- Be admitted, and a Member in Good Standing, of at least one state bar, preferably Texas
- 3-5 years’ of relevant working experience in one or more of the following industries: oil & gas, renewable energy, maritime, and/or conformity assessment
- Relevant experience may be in private practice or in-house environment and should include experience in claims handling/litigation management
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, both domestic and international
- Professional proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese –preferred

Expectations:
- Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters and to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice to the business
- Provide accurate, relevant and timely advice to the business on legal issues impacting the current service portfolio, development of new services, and reporting requirements
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts with customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies
- Deliver legal trainings and internal presentations
- Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision
- Ability to collaborate well with others and build positive working relationships
- Ability to identify legal issues and help implement solutions that may need to factor in non-legal variables, such as reputational risk, communications, government relations, tax, insurance, and finance
- Strong analytical and strategic skills
