Responsibilities:
Provide support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for guidance services that assist students, including but not limited to:
- Utilize school and student data to identify needs and help students plan for their future in academics, career choice and personal/social development
- Provide students with opportunity to engage with the school counseling curriculum to acquire knowledge, attitudes and skills to enhance their academic, career and personal/social development
- Utilize data to advocate for systematic change to reduce barriers to student learning
- Create support services with administrators and provide relevant professional development to staff regarding the counseling program
- Counsel individual and small groups of students with identified needs and concerns
- Develop, communicate and implement an efficient referral process for students
Certification / Requirements:
- Master’s Degree
- Must be Louisiana Certified; Type A, B, or C; Level 1, 2, or 3 or Ancillary as a School Counselor
- Experience as a middle school counselor preferred
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
